The Faculty of Letters and Culture (FSB) is the executing element of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) in the fields of education and teaching, research, and community service. The faculty produces educational and non-educational staff in the fields of language, literature, and culture. This faculty manages four majors for undergraduate programs (strata one) and diploma programs.
The Faculty of Letters and Culture (FSB) is one of the faculties at the Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The history of the establishment of the faculty is highly correlated with university's historical traces. Furthermore, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo was first initiated from Junior College FKIP of Universitas Sulawesi Utara-Tengah (UNSULUTTENG) Manado in Gorontalo based on the Rector's Decree Number 1313/II/E/63 on June 22, 1963. Then, it changed to IKIP Manado in Gorontalo in 1965, and became FKIP Unsrat in Gorontalo in 1982. Based on Presidential Decree Number 9 of 1993, on January 16, 1993, the status changed to STKIP Gorontalo. Additionally, through the arrangement of faculties and institutes, one of the departments, namely the Department of Language and Arts Education STKIP Gorontalo, changed to the Faculty of Letters and Culture, IKIP Negeri Gorontalo. Meanwhile, even IKIP Negeri Gorontalo has been changed into Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, the name of Faculty was not changed.
