FSB Students were selected to be the Speaker of Student International Seminar

Several Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Letters and Culture were selected to be speakers in the International Seminar on Regional Languages and Literature (Sinar Bahtera) held by the Language Centre of Central Kalimantan from August 24 to 26, 2021, at the hall of Bahalap Hotel, at the R.T.A. Milono Km. 2 St., Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan. Lecturers who had the opportunity to present their work were Sitti Rachmi Massie, Rosma Kadir, Jafar Lantowa, and Fatmah AR. Umar.

Dr. Siti Rachmi Massie presented her Abstract Paper, "Writing Children Stories Based on The Growth Mindset Approach as A School Literacy Culture Reinforcer". Moreover, Rosma Kadir, MA also described the Abstract Paper, "Comparism of Folklore between Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih, Cinderella and Si Cantik Vasilisa". Then, Jafar Lantowa M.A, "The Morphology of The Gorontalo Folklore PERANG PANIPI: A Study of Validimir Propp's Narratology". Last but not least, Mr. Dr. Fatam AR. Umar explained his abstract paper, "The Existence of the Suwawa Language in The Enormity of Modernization and Multiculturalism". The presented papers have gone through long process and the lecturers have taken maximum effort to participate as speakers in the seminar. After being presented, the paper will be selected to be uploaded into the international journals.

During the seminar, there is one of the students of the Faculty of Letters and Culture, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, who was selected to present his writing in the seminar. It was Umar Kasim, a seventh semester student at the Department of Indonesia Language and Literature. He presentedan Abstract Paper, "Narrative Structure of Gorontalo Folklore BAPAK TUA". Umar is an outstanding student at the Faculty of Letters and Culture, in Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. He currently serves as the chairman of the Faculty’s Da'wah Institute (Al-Faruq) and has won several competitions at the MTQ University level and is ready to compete in the National level. In addition, Umar also passed the funded Student Creativity Program as the chairman in Masker Inovatif ABC’s training program for former school canteen traders.

With this opportunity, Umar contributes to the record of student achievements in the Faculty of Letters and Culture, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. It is a pride for all the communities in the Faculty of Letters and Culture, especially to Mr. Jafar Lantowa MA as the Vice Dean III: Student Affairs and Alumni of the Faculty of Letters and Culture. He said that this must be an encouragement and motivation for other students to continue in pursuing achievements.

"Students must see opportunities and change them into an achievement. Students are also expected to continue in contributing to the faculty.They need to continue making achievements in the regional, national, and international levels," said Jafar.

"I also hope that with achievement, other students can be encouraged and motivated. It is also needed in order to support the accreditation in the Faculty of Letters and Culture" he concluded.
