It is a pride for the English Department, Faculty of Letter and Culture; UNG because Dr. Abid, S.S, M.A, TESOL, is believed to be a speaker in this event. Based on an interview via WhatsApp conducted by one of the members of Violet Media, Dr. Abid said that he focused on discussing the use of websites as independent learning materials for students, especially the English Department, with the title "Using web-based resources to facilitate EFL learning: Challenges and opportunities for English majors".

In his presentation, Dr. Abid explained that there are several free websites that students can choose to use as English learning materials. In addition, he also argues that students can also take advantage of English-language online news content to learn new vocabulary and new expressions in various types of writing. This is considered quite effective in pandemic situations, where most of our activities tend to be done in online media. He also hopes that it can be a step to help students, especially those who are in the final semester.

"For students in the final semester, the websites can also be a source of inspiration for research topics in the field of critical discourse studies. This also makes it easier for them to choose a more flexible research design considering that research involving student participation tends not to be easy to do during this pandemic," he concluded.
